Yeah it was a spin-off from a radio 4 series and to be honest I thought the radio version was better - but then I thought the Radio version of League of gentlemen was better so what do I know!!!!

still going strong on Radio 4 - the guest fills the old Rushton slot. And talking of these personnel did anyone mention the Goodies yet - now that was a funny show, as was Michael Bentine's Potty Time. Kike a bit of surrealismo me!

What makes the Goodies so good is that they werent repeated to death like some other TV comedies. It kept you wanting more as it was a scarcity. Glad to see the series released on DVD so Mssrs Oddie, Garden and Brooke-Taylor get some well deserved royalties.

I have enjoyed comedy since the 1960's, and my favorites have been:

Monty Python - loads of brilliant moments (argument sketch for example)

Not Only But Also - Peter Cook/Dudley Moore - Genius at work

Not the nine o'clock news - great in its day

Blackadder - except first series

Young Ones - brilliantly written and acted anarchy

Porridge - Well crafted, well written, well acted, and funny, even today

The first Alan Partridge TV series - the chat show take-off (one of the best observed comedy series ever, and funny)

Father Ted - one of the greats

Coupling is my favorite of the current batch

Oh and I forgot Fawlty Towers - still one of the best 12 shows ever
(well two of them are not that great but 10 out of 12 is better than
most)

(Basil doing ape impression)...Just enjoying myself dear.......

So you're three doctors...did you take the exam twice

(Manual) He try to see girl through window, he go mad to see girl

(Sybil to Basil) If you are going to grope the guests please have the
decency to stay in the room with them.

(Phyciatrist to Basil about holidays) How often do you manage it. My wife wonders how you manage it all
