And yet the country has integrated so many nationalities over the years, each adding something to the whole.

It's no better or worse than any other new town up here. In its favour, they did film Gregory's Girl there.

Oh, and GG is on BBC2 on Saturday night. If you've never seen it, watch it. If you've seen it, watch it. A cultural delight----and one line from the film is stolen and resurrected every 10 years or so.

Right, bedtime for this Bonzo.

And you were going to your bed hours ago, Magoo. Night, all.

Without a doubt. Probably the most culturally diverse country in the whole world. (i know London is officially the most culturally diverse city).

In fact I've been reading a book on the English language, and how it adopts and gobbles up foreign words like no other language does. (unlike the French who've made it illegal to speak English on tv).
"In left-wing circles it is always always felt that there is something slightly disgraceful in being an Englishman and that it is a duty to snigger at every English institution, from horse racing to suet puddings. It is a strange fact, but it is unquestionably true, that almost any English intellectual would feel more ashamed of standing to attention during 'God save the King' than of stealing from a poor box."
