Re: Immigrant Labour ? Attention Warren

Warren, I note the slightly more respectful and conciliatory tone of this last post and I regret having had to ?lean on you? somewhat ? but you have been tweaking the tiger?s tail of late. Officer Dibbs doesn?t mind a good-natured jest at his expense, but your attacks were becoming overly frequent, bold and, ultimately, disrespectful. Among other things you?ve pored scorn on my apparent intelligence and knowledge ? suggesting that facts, figures, and insights gained from Google, Wikipedia, and the Collins English Dictionary are worth less than the same facts and figures garnered from Aberdeen University. Yet I have always had the utmost respect for you and your intellect (if not your modesty) and I don?t believe I have ever insulted or disparaged you personally ? I therefore don?t think it unreasonable for me to expect to be accorded the same courtesy.
I know I?m a gobshite and can imagine how uncomfortable and annoying my rants can be to someone of your social and political disposition, but I can?t help it, and I therefore crave your indulgence. Because under this serene and calm exterior I?m like ?AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!? at the pretence, self delusion and hypocrisy of those who are running this society. It?s an itch I?m compelled to scratch. It?s not focused on you in particular, or even the whole of the middle classes - Jeremy Clarkson is middleclass, but he doesn?t harbor any hand wringing pretensions of social concern or moral superiority. He just gets on with being a decent chap and enjoying life.
You?ve raised some interesting points and queried aspects of my character and psyche in your post. I?d love to write ?an essay? to explain myself and clarify some of the points you raised, but I don?t want to get bogged down with all this right now. I need to get on and earn a crust. But fret not; I?m sure I?ll have plenty more to say in the fullness of time.
I?m sure this forum is big enough for the both of us, Warren. I?m not mean or spiteful (unlike a few caring, sharing ?socialists? I could think of) and can always forgive anyone of who shows goodwill.
Best regards,
Officer Dibble
