The Portugese documentary by the investigating officer who was pulled of the case is pretty thought provoking.
Along with the dog evidence. It shows there was no forced entry. A sighting of a man fitting McCann's description and appearance heading toward the beach with a child. The couple's reluctance to answer questions. The hire car sitting on the drive with the boot left open.
I'll be honest and say I never warmed to them from the start and always thought there was something off about the couple. Their body language could be a reason for this.
But if they were out there swinging, that could explain why they were being cagey and hiding something. Equally if they feared being found guilty of neglect, would also be a reason.
I don't however agree with some of the ideas put forward above, that they are using the dissaperance as a massive fraud. If something untoward did happen and they agreed to a public plea, I don't think they had any idea the story would have become such a worldwide event, with Beckham, Ronaldo, million pound rewards, international press coverage etc. I'm sure they would have thought the story would be over quickly but infact got caught in a mass media storm.
But as no one knows the facts, I'm not gonna point the finger. It all just seems a bit off.
