The fundamental difference, I have always supposed and hoped,
between the apparently-democratic West and those areas of the
World where freedom of speech is banned, is that we are genuinely
accountable and thereby occupy the moral high-ground.
For us to adopt similar tactics to terrorists, who are essentially
utterly childish in approach [i.e. "gimme what I want, NOW!! Or
I'll throw a tantrum"] and completely lacking in political sophistication
is simultaneously humanly understandable and horribly, horribly
wrong.
