Whilst it won't bring camera back register yourself with http://www.immobilise.com/ it helps stop thieving to rags reselling your valuables and also helps with telling fuzz & insurance your serial numbers.

House insurance is fucking wank mate.
2 yrs ago, while shooting, my XL2 video camera, with rode mic and pag light fell into the hot tub, and the house insurance said the single claim value was lower the value of the camera and gear.
Useless.
I now have my video and stills gear all on E and L, as when I dropped my 16-35 2.8 and shattered the front element they covered it no problems.
