There is NO connection between Saddam and Osama. In fact they are sworn enemies - to the extent that each has more than once tried to have the other removed permanently. Sadly they proved unable to accomplish the task.

The fuselages did indeed exist - but were for training Palestinian nationalists of the Abu Jihad faction (NB. This is not Islamic Jihad!) However, they subsequently had a falling out - to the degree that Saddam had Mr Jihad bumped off.

The US have no secret evidence - they revealed what had been their previously hidden evidence - the locaton of Osama-linked bases in Iraq. Strangely, they turned out to be in that part of Northern Iraq run by the Kurds and where Saddam has no power whatsoever. In fact they are part of the Northern no fly zone and so by the logic of the Pentagon the Marines should actually be attacking the White House and 10 Downing Street - since they are obviously protectors of Osama.

Saddam is not a nice chap - he is your basic Stalin clone with new improved fascism added to the mix. He was ever thus - even when the West set him up after removing the previously mildly pro-Soviet Baath faction. So that he has in common with Noriega, the Shah, the Afghan fundamentalists, Pinochet, etc, etc.

I like Americans and I am a Brit - I hope as few people as possible are killed in this farce (and thats what it is) as possible. Just remember - the 'war' isn't the difficult bit, the 'peace' will be the tricky part. Get that wrong and the Twin Towers will go down in history as Sarajevo was to the First World War.

PS. Just because we like porn doesn't mean that we don't know anything. :-)

Well said Magoo - the other thing a country learns after dealing with terrorism after a while is that it is impossible to eliminate if it retains public support anywhere. We could not eradicate the IRA because it had a base of support in 10-15% of the Northern Irish population. Instead you have to either open a peace process with it or remove the public support for the terrorism (which often amounts to the same thing).

To be honest Buttsie - as a Brit I must accept that we supplied a lot of his 'toys' too - or at least our inspirational governments did...

All that pretty much sums it up for me.
Apart from the oil issue, and America's looking to the geopolitical map afterwards.
Nice to see CZ-Jones carrying off an Oscar, BTW. She's obviously SO much more talented than such hacks as Streep/Bates/Moore !! And well done to Hollywood for employing a previously unheard-of Welsh girl in a major supporting role after one brief screen-test and a quick look at an ancient TV episode !! Oh, and marriage to some powerless nobody...........

Every arms dealer in the eighties would have been selling weapons to Saddam

Its was just Business...no conscience or forward thinking required

In the great tradition of the twentieth century...move more units at any cost
