CS Lewis on nutters (from God in the Dock) [& melonfarmers]
"Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

A new one on me, and thank you greatly.....I'd always steered clear of CSL because of his religious fervour ()and also Huxley, for his unfortunate streak of asceticism), although as a child I read, loved (...and still do) the 'Screwtape Letters'.
That argument sounds like they were still suffering from the Puritan backlash (for want of a better term...).
Did you see the Pol Pot interview recently?
He used EXACTLY the same arguments as Blur has done recently.

Wow! Must admit I'm not up to speed on Lewis by now I've had a taster I may dust off my old library ticket. Beautifully put, it summed up the situation precisely. I so agree with his sentiments.
Think I'll cut and past that quotation and use it at a later date in one or two of my other scribblings - the punters will be well impressed!

Most of the above (or is it below?) has been debated before. I attempted to make my point before but my browser was poorly and so was I after earlier boozing. I shall make my points brief.
1) JJ & Dibble. If neither of you are familiar with the bit of prose that Woody just quoted then neither of you visit melonfarmers. Which I find disgracefull. Check it out you both will learn lots about censorship etc.
2) I CANT REMEMBER MY SECOND POINT. Its not big and its not clever to drink. I`m off to bed but please fellas check out melonfarmers once in a while. It was through him that I discovered this site and a load of unlisted video retailers. Mind that was back in the halcion days of 2000.
God Bless You All.

Is that "late", as in 'the Late Reverend Magoo of this Parish, drearily departed'?
I DO pop into Melonfarmers occasionally.....
.....but they seem to have run out of patty-pans. Again.
Tch.
