c.j. That guy who was threatened with a knife (by a Yemeni man) for kissing his girlfriend was me! !laugh!

We were just two teenagers who thought we were in love *sigh*. I did know who's house I was outside, and had knew the family for about 8 years, and hung around with his 2 sons as a child.

He took exception to me kissing a girl on the street though (big time)!

The official name of the group of states "co-operating" under the Warsaw Treaty was "The Warsaw Pact".

You obviously haven't done business or lived with families in various countries in Europe., otherwise you would know your points aren invalid.

This concept of "respecting British culture" seems bogus. It's a stick to beat immigrants with and whatever they say or do, they can't prove they're respecting the culture. A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth, and if people keep stating that Muslims (or Jews, black, whoever) are disrespecting our culture, then the Sun-reading masses will believe it. Exactly the same accusation used to be levelled at Jewish people (my grandfather remembers the "No Jews, No Irish" signs in shop windows back in the day).

Defining British culture is hard enough - ask a Londoner, a Scouser and a Glaswegian what it is, and you'll get three different answers. Britain has always been a land of migrations and invasions and only Celtic people have any claim to being "native" Brits.

Each person's culture is whatever they want it to be. When that stops being the case, our free society can be declared dead.

Who is a better respecter of British culture and traditions: a Muslim who peacefully prays and respects the law, or a Brit who firebombs Muslims places of prayer?

Not at all SB. Not when they challenge our culture & customs so frequently. It never used to be this way though, it's only the last 10 years when Muslims have started to segregate themselves further from British society and ways of life.

What 'is' bogus is when they say the covering of the face is part of their religion. It isn't, and Allah only asks them to cover their modesty & bosom specifically. Allah also commands men to lower their gaze upon seeing a woman. Funny but I don't see this when they're mauling the first girl they see with a skirt on.

As for the white guys that firebombed a Mosque, well they're obviously fucking idiots, and I hope they get jailtime. There's no excuse for them whatsoever.

On a side note: I really don't understand the fuss about that BBC newsreader who was wearing a small crucifix whist reading the news. That time I admit that it was the papers stirring up trouble. I've lived in a Muslim area for 22 years and never heard anyone complain about newsreaders -or anybody- wearing a crucifix on tv.

There you go again. Using "they" as if every Muslim thinks the same way. It's pointless talking along these lines.

When I use 'they', I'm only refering to the Muslims -or any nationality/religion- that seem to disregard & ignore British customs, traditions, culture, language, law, values, and etiquette.

I wasn't using it as a 'them, and us' sort of way, but only for convenience as quite a few of my threads are pretty long, and it would have taken too much time & effort to 'specify' continually. Since you seem an educated adult, I'd have guessed you would have had a fair idea of who I was talking about.

I certainly wasn't using sweeping generalizations, but talking of a 'growing number', and have actually made this clear in a few posts now.

You're working on the basis that "they" have some problem about living within British culture (whatever you think that is).

It's a meaningless generalisation. Impossible to prove, impossible to disprove, and it doesn't chime with my real-world experience of British Muslims.

If you're concerned about the growth of extremist Islamic groups, then so am I, but I'm not going to confuse the beliefs of a few hundred idiots with the million or so Muslims in this country. And that, in the current climate, is very dangerous. Muslims are being attacked by racist white thugs, not the other way round.
