!laugh!
[after Ted and Dougal exhausting Dougal's lame attempts to name his rabbit after either Ted, Mrs Doyle]
Ted: You'll have to be more original, Dougal, go for a name like Flopsy or Bruce."
Dougal: [looks round at Father Jack] "You see the way he's got floppy ears, floppin' all over the place there, Ted........."
Ted: [enthusiastically agreeing] "Yeah..............."
Dougal: "Then how about Father Jack?"
Jack: "WHAT??"
Ted: "No, it's far too confusing, we already have someone called Father Jack!"
Jack: "WHAT??"
Dougal: "Aaaaaw, Ted, I've got used to calling him Father Jack. Can't we call Jack something else?"
Jack: "WHAT??"
Ted: [exasperated] "Fine, we'll call Jack Flipper. Flipper the priest!!"
Jack: "Yes?!"
And with that I bid you all good night. !sleep!

I too was wondering how much 'harm' it would do the lower clerical
hierarchy, as opposed to the [doubtless dim] view taken by High Church.
Did they ever manage to sell it to, say, Poland or some equally
predominantly-Catholic nation?

I thought the 'C P Grogan' self-styling a bit pompous, though.
Maybe she was just trying to accentuate the break with her former
career....

Until Father Ted, Dermot Morgan had a torrid time making a living on the comedy circuit after he was more-or-less ostracised for his previous comic creation, "Father Trendy", which caused a lot of upset to the fire-and-brimstoners of Potatoville first through radio, then via one or two shows on RTE.
No wonder his ticker packed in 25 years too early... RIP Dermot.

Sticking my oar in here I know, but...
@Magoo - You didn't need to bring up Wazza AGAIN on this thread. You've got beef, and you're not the first person Wazza'a pissed off this year as he'll admit himself. He can be overly pedantic -again, as he'll readily admit- and it's ended with you two at loggerheads. This thread was about Father 'bloody' Ted, which is a decent enough subject whereby the thread can entertain without throwing in a sarcy dig at Wazza. Basically, there was no need, and you're clearly the instigator this time.
@Wazza - Remember the 'Scoland Independance' thread? You had a pop at magoo because he reacted to something crofter instigated? Remember 'hook, line & sinker'? You rose to the bait here -it happens to the best of us- and you should have given magoo the Rasputin treatment (yeah, I'm a right one to talk!).
@jj - I agree. We all like a bit of a barny now and again, and a little slanging match can always entertain us, in the forums 'quieter' times, but the magoo/wazza saga has hijacked this thread of Beestons, and I find that unfair. Back on topic eh guys?

Phoenix Nights was brilliant.
Rumours of a return, which would suggest Kay's co-writers have forgiven him or are a bit hard up.

Nothing to do with that, JJ. There was another, less successful, Clare Grogan on Equity's books. CP was born from Comfort And Joy onwards.

Well, we all have our disagreements and you & wazza won't be the last. Me & Wazza have had some long drawn out debates before now, but he's a decent & fair guy when you get to know him.
I heard this on another forum somewhere, and though it's not very 'pc', and not even true, I found it funny, so here goes....
"Arguing on an internet forum is like competing in the para-olympics - even if you win, you're still a retard"
