I think its time to also sort out the Local Authorities and other public bodies some of whom also have large expence accounts, at a time when a lot of people are struggling to pay over inflated council tax bills we have a right to know which greedy bastards have been having a juncket at our expence and put them under the microscope, for an instance the leader of Kent County Council where i live has a salary greater than the PM and i would love to see what he has also been claiming in expences.

The other issue about pay is that if you bring MP's to 30K then you have to reduce everyones in the system local councillors, leaders, Chief executives etc.

While it wouldn't stop local councillors it would limit applications for the more significant roles and in turn stop them from taking the next step.

The other point about logging in is that that although it would be pretty obvious to identify those MPs who come in and do nothing it should also be remembered that it happens now and it is HOC 'work' that saves their seat.

Diane Abbot is probably the worse politician in the UK but she has won awards for her HOC 'work' including speeches made.

Time for a few to be hung from lamp posts - I don't think too many people would be upset. We don't need 646 MPs, we could make do with 300. We have more representatives, who only really represent the party and themselves, more than either the US or India - with a population of one billion.

Right on Johnny but we will need some bloody brave, incorruptible coppers and a revolutionary leader.

No not at all - but this racket is cross-party, and I'd expect such a keen follower and believer of this system (which, let's face it, in tha absence of convictions is basically a scripted sixth form debate) to have at least something to say about the exposure of it all as being a gigantic con.

Why is that so difficult to understand?
And is having a moat any better than a supposed socialist fiddling their expenses to furnish multi properties? Are labour fiddles better than tory fiddles?

Or shall we be just do what the "right honourable" prats in Parliament do? Say, a few of us can stand in one corner and pretend we're landed gentry and "talk posh" We can stand a few trained barristers (legal ACTORS in case you haven't realised) in the other corner who can play down their salaries, expenses & wealth (without mentioning their property portfolios) and they can pretend they're working class. Both parties can trade insults and snort at each other, before we all go for drinks and think "jolly good show!"

Would that make us all feel a little bit better?
