It could, and I thank you for a much more reasoned response this time. However, again (the 3rd time?) you didn't answer my question: does it tax the brain more from watching movies and listening to cds compared to game playing?

Your knowledge of pc gaming seems to be centred around one 14 year old neighbour, who may just be lazy but may also have other issues we cannot be certain of. Do you take into account not only the fast-paced 1st person shooters that tax ones hand-eye coordination and response times but also tactical shooters where planning and forethought are essential to an objective? Do you take into account games like Civ4, SimCity and Total War games where multitasking and management are needed? How about multiplayer games where outwitting other human players is the name of the game? All skills and all tax the brain in a different way than a tv programme or even educative book.

The old adage, 'everything in moderation' obviously applies to gaming, movie-going and reading, but you cannot say with confidence that pc gaming is less educative, or less taxing than your average film or album.

The think is, Keith, you just don't like gaming. Maybe you've never tried, or did try but was overwhelmed. Whatever your reasons I think you're basing all your conclusions from a foundation of ignorance.

Learning new things and skills is good for your brain. Since this is true and since we've, I think, established that gaming stimulates the brain in different ways compared to a book, and since different skills are learnt and perfected from pc gaming compared to other forms of entertainment then I would think it is a positive thing to play them.

Is it really that you've just never been any good at pc games and so on that premise think them useless? I have a suspicion it is. Go out and get MW2 over xmas and we'll meet up online. I'll rape you, naturally, but god dammit you might just orgasm over it.
