Interesting Sam. Not all that long ago I seem to recall you were claiming to be a humble factory worker from off't Manor.

Now all of a sudden you're a budding nutritional scientist and "Dietary Consultant To The (Porn) Stars" ... hmmmmm. It's getting to the point where I don't know what to believe, frankly. Perhaps you also do a bit of teaching on the side as well (knowing wink).

Sam:

Eric:
Not boasting at all. Simply letting you know that you're not the only one with an insight into how the body works and its calorific requirements. I just felt that your overly smug blowing of your own trumpet warranted some form of reply. Like I said, simply saying that you practised martial arts and did a bit of runninng would have made your point sufficiently, and wouldn't have been perceived as boastful on my part.

Sam:
>>

Eric:
You were. And I never asked.

Sam:
>>

Eric:
No, not really.

Eric:
Well Sam, if it makes you feel better about yourself to think so .....

But to get back on track, far from "winning yet another OT debate" (as you so arrogantly see fit to claim), you're missing the point completely.

Granted, saying that "120 quid a week is more than enough for heating costs alone is **IN PURELY ARITHMETICAL TERMS** perhaps true (note the emphasis).

HOWEVER: you're making the mistake of looking at it in isolation. The problem is that pension increases haven't kept up with the rise in the **general cost of living across** the board (not to mention massive and ongoing rises in the price of utilities). Which means that OAPs have less money to keep warm with in winter, because those other costs eat into their fuel budget.

Why is Is THAT so hard to understand? Or have charities like Age Concern got it all wrong, and pensioners are only dying of cold because they're frittering it all away on package holidays in Aya Napa and other luxuries instead (which is what you appear to be implying).

I'm not going to say any more on this, Sam.

So you carry on claiming that black is white if you want to - why should I care?!

But before I depart this thread, here's a link for you to read with some interesting facts and figures. Did you know by the way that the official povery line as defined by the government is around 165 Pounds per week.

That's not me coming up with a figure out of thin air - these are the official figures.

Which makes your claim that 120 Pounds per week should be plenty for *anyone* to live on (because Sam Slater claims he does - along with somewhat hilariously claiming to be a porn industry dietician, LOL!) all look rather daft doesn't it?

Have a nice weekend.
Interesting Sam. Not all that long ago I seem to recall you were claiming to be a humble factory worker from off't Manor.
Lol. I don't think I did, Eric. I might have said 'I was' a factory worker (metallurgy dpt. actually). Notice 'was' is what we English call 'past tense'. If your confused then pick up a dictionary and look up the words 'past, present, time, change and future.' I don't know what this has to do with this debate, mind. Do you? Is it because you have nothing in reply to my questions so attacking me seems like the best way to detract from them? The oldest tactic in the book: if you can't argue the debate argue the man, yes?

That's twice you've mentioned me coming off the Manor now in the space of a week. I've only mentioned it once and that was in a reply to your mate, Ociffer Dibble over a year ago. Now why would that stick in you mind, Eric? When I add up two and two I nearly always manage to get four, my friend (chortle-chortle - no?).
Now all of a sudden you're a budding nutritional scientist and "Dietary Consultant To The (Porn) Stars" ... hmmmmm.
Nutritional scientist? No! Thank you anyway. I merely just have enough knowledge to know some old geezer at 75 doesn't need ?150pw to get his recommended calorie intake. There are more obese pensioners than starved ones my friend. At least in England anyway. Not too sure about Germany. And why do you keep bringing up this porn star business? Jesus, I only mentioned it as a throw away line; a bit of a cheeky quip, ya know? I mean, I didn't lie but I didn't think it would affect you so much, Eric. Are you getting enough my man? I think mentioning my personal life has rubbed you up the wrong way and it's like you begrudge me my past t?te-?-t?tes at the gym. It's a good job I never mentioned how they showed their gratitude.... why, you'd probably blow a gasket! Chortle-chortle, yes?
Perhaps you also do a bit of teaching on the side as well (knowing wink).
Lol! So you're another that thinks I let old Wazza log in via my account? Now what -or who- put that into your head? You better hold that 'knowing wink' for something you do actually know something about because it looks more like a 'gormless wink' to me! Your funny, Eric.
Granted, saying that "120 quid a week is more than enough for heating costs alone is **IN PURELY ARITHMETICAL TERMS** perhaps true (note the emphasis).
Well, what other terms are there? Either ?120pw is enough to heat the average home, plus leave enough for food for one person or it isn't. I've never mentioned 'emotional terms', ie. what's enough to make one happy. I've already said -at least twice- that if Age Concern wants pensioners to get more money so they can have a better quality of life in their retirement then I'm all for it. ?165pw you say? Well, I'm not one of Thatcher's children and so I'd agree as long as the extra money can be found to pay for it. You sound almost socialist, Eric. Well done! What I won't condone is this big guilt trip about them freezing over the winter because their pensions aren't enough. I stick by what I say: A single person (never mind a pensioner), in general can heat and feed him/herself on ?120pw. Oh! Before I forget! I've only kept up with this '?120pw' thing for so long because I was using a conservative estimate. I wasn't too sure on the real figure so went for the lowest amount I thought reasonable. It's actually ?130pw. Not that the ?10 matters much in our debate. We'll keep it at ?120 if you want?

I must reiterate this important point again so please remember it. I don't mind pensioners getting an extra ?30 or so a week if it improves the quality of life. I only object to the bullshit story that ?130pw leads them to starvation and hypothermia. You got that, Eric? Go on....read it over one more time and repeat it to yourself ten times......you done it yet?...............good!

So have you done throwing your toys out of the pram now? Want to call me some more names while you're in the mood? I don't mind too much really. It seems my physical attributes and continued scoring with the ladies has hurt you more than your name calling and abuse has affected me. If it makes you feel better I'm a quieter lad now than a few years ago. I shy away from the attention these days. Young, lithe, horny females get you into trouble in the end, let me tell you! Women, eh?.....bloody hell.

Toodle-pip.

Sorry about calling you a cunt Sam - on reflection, that was bang out of order. After all, we Owls should stick together shouldn't we?!

It wasn't so much borne out of frustration mind, you got that bit wrong. Well not frustration about anything you said anyway. More like frustration about there not being enough hours in the day and everyone wanting a piece of my time. The perils of self-employment - it never rains but it pours. In fact all in all it's been quite a stressful couple of weeks, and I allowed that to spill over and get the better of me in my dealings with your good self. I wasn't my usual laid-back, cheery and contented self. And for that I apologise. No matter though - I'm back now, suitably refreshed after a long and relaxing weekend in the Black Forest.

Tell you what though, at least all this hard graft and toil means that like you, I too can afford all the best cuts of meat. And even a bit of oily fish (I'm quite partial to a bit of mackerel me'sen - the fresh stuff mind, none of that tinned shite). Although the difference between us of course is that I have to live on a real-world budget, rather than just bung me Mam the odd tenner for board & lodging.

I don't begrudge you any lithe, lissom, leotarded lovelies down the gym, either. Really I don't. I'm not a resentful, vindictive man. So good luck to you if you can get 'em.

It's just that whenever someone comes onto one of these 'ere forums and shoehorns in (albeit thinly disguised as humour) a mention of, say, their 'good looks', their 'athleticism', their conquests, their sexual prowess, the undying gratitude of porn starlets in return for lifestyle advice, you know ... that kind of thing, my bullshit detector tends to shoot off the scale. Know what I mean?! Rightly or wrongly, my scepticism gets the better of me every time.

That said though, somehow I *can* picture you and maybe Cathy Barry (now *there's* a babe for ya!) sharing an intimate Doner (with turkey meat of course: only the 'healthy option' LOL!) on the upstairs back seat of the Number 69 heading back to your Mam's, as Cathy shows her 'gratitude' as only she knows how ('Sid James' cackle).

I'm sorry to keep banging on about it Sam - but what you seek to play down as that "throwaway line" of yours about being a 'dietician to the porn stars' (especially the bit about 'porn stars in LA') was truly fucking hilarious, and you've created something of a monster! Attack the man and not the point you say? Well maybe I am a little guilty of that, yes. I hold my hands up. But you have to admit that it was a corker (funny though!), and thus eminently "attackable".

Oh and seeing as you ask (and it'd be the height of churlishness on my part not to respond) I am indeed getting enough - nutrition-wise and 'the other', LOL. My good lady sees that I don't go without, bless 'er. So don't you worry about me. Fret ye not.

As to the actual subject of our discussion - well, all I can really suggest now is this: Let's revisit this thread again when you've retired, and we'll take a gander at how you're managing your food & heating budget then - once you've finally flown the nest, LOL. And don't worry, we can adjust the figures for inflation. Fair's fair.

TTFN
