But if you ban this type of mask, you've opened the floodgates of intolerance. How about banning piercings or tattoos that anyone else finds "threatening"? Hoodies? Baseball caps? The daft gear that Hassidic Jews wear?

The line needs to be drawn carefully - either accept that we're a free country, or accept that (insert minority of your choice) isn't allowed their freedom.

I can't understand why a Muslim teacher would want to wear a burqa while teaching children between the ages of 5 & 11! She's now taking the school to a tribunal.......

The face is the most expressive part of a human being. The first thing a new born baby tries to do is focus on it's mothers face. It's hard wired into our unconsciousness from birth. We communicate with the subtlest of facial expressions, and it's vital to a childs social skills to constantly interact with people 'face to face'.
