Setting up a model agency

Hi, I have been thinking of starting my own business for a while, yet have failed to come up with a suitable alternative.
However, I have been thinking of setting up an online model agency which caters for all production and commercial streams.
However, having no contacts whatsoever in the industry and general knowhow; I was just wondering for those of you who have experience and currently operate in such a field, would you possibly care to share a tip or words of advice.
Anyone is welcome to drop me a private email as well.
Thanks a lot

There's a million online agencies out there, all featuring the same old faces. If you want to have any credibility, you need to find a steady stream of new faces.
And don't fall into the trap of "willing to take clothes off = model"

You will need to find models that are new to the business and that are not with every other agency. You will also find that the vast majority of those who make appointments to come and see you, don't turn up!
You will need to 'avoid' the 'portfolio' route. This means that you don't charge girls for a portfolio full of 'amateur' pictures on the basis that they need the pictures to get work. If you think the girl has potential then do a handful of shots free just to get her started. Nothing kills an agencies reputation quicker than conning the girls out of money before they have a chance to earn it!
For contacts, email the editors of the men's magazines for a photographer/producers listing of reputable industry players.
Feel free to email me any other questions you may have about the business.

I should try finding teeth in speckled hens. you're more likely to succeed and it's more fun!

One option certainly worth considering is attempting to attract potential models from some of the Eastern European countries that will be joining the EU next year and therefore will be able to work over here perfectly legally.
