[OT] Brass Neck

seems like government doesn't like Brass Eye. I think they are missing the joke. Chris Morris is in a parallel universe. The prog may have 'morals' added to it (people are stupid, easily fooled etc), but Tessa Jowel seems to be (according to press reports) maybe going to ask the ITC to pre-censor programs on TV. Mr Blindman had a spokesman say 'he didn't find it funny'. How does he see these programs? Does someone describe the pictures (so .. there is apicture of a dog with a large penis drooping with a picture of the head of a child stuck on the dogs head').

It was 'sick'... sick in what sense?
I thought it was one of the funniest things I've seen (satire is about upsetting government and perceptions)

It's unfortunate that the people in power are the individuals apparently most unable to understand when a serious point is being made through humurous satire.

I have long been an admirer of Chris Morris, and saw his latest Brass Eye, the one causing all the outrage. I did find it edgy and disturbing, yet it had to be this way for Morris to make his point.

It was a programme not about paedophilia, but about the hysteria and sensationalism that surrounds it. If anyone was the butt of the joke, it was the newspapers and media, and the sheep like half-wits that form their opinions based on what they read. No wonder the papers don't like it - they're the joke!

As for government response, like any government this one will attempt to pander to what appears to be popular opinion in an attempt to endear themselves to the voters.
