British Adult Film Industry

One of the advantages of the BGAFD & EGAFD forums is that they are held in high regard within the industry. That is why the majority of postings come from either people working in the adult industry or genuine aficionados of the subject. Sadly forums regarding many other subjects are spoilt by responses from misfits and loony tunes, this hardly happens here.
With this in mind, I wonder if I could ask where people think the British industry would be now if we had enjoyed 30 years with the same freedoms that, say, German producers have? The British industry now produce films far better than American ones and often better than European ones. Is this because we are now in a similar situations to the Germans 30 years ago, whereby directors had the freedom for the first time to make quality productions on hardcore themes. In other words everything is new and fresh. Will hopefully increased freedoms allow the industry to flourish, or will we find ourselves in a situation certain other countries do now, with an industry producing ott rubbish?
