I hope this is not considered o/t ( apolgies if so) but it is linked to viewing british girls in action on the web.
I have Windows multimedia, Quicktime and Real Player. What implications are there to viewing mpegs if I delete real player - I've paid to get it but when I download clips they mostly seem to open in Windows multimedia?
Is it safe to delete, or rather uninstall, realplayer ?
Thanks Smee Again

It is safe but from what I can gather of your post. You would njot be able to play the files if you do so.

When you want to download a clip, just right click and save, it would then just save it to your hard drive without playing it first, you can view it in whater program you wish. or you could change yor settings

All clips play through the Windows Media player because its set as the default player
If you want to see how the clips play on the real player
just start it up and select file....file...scan disk for media
Should automatically scan you computer and add all the video clips
It may then also say it needs additional plug ins to play some of these-say yes
Personally I think real player is crap and the only use it has that the others can't cover is sites that have streaming video which is only accessible using real player
Then theres the insidous messages behind the scenes that real.com are known to send and receive

I agree, realplayer is crap and gives useless customer service too. I stick to using Windows Media or QuickTime for my online media playback needs...

If you save the disk then open Windows Explorer, if you right click on the file you should have a "Open with" menu option. This will list the programs that will play that type of file, select the one you want. You will have an option to set this as default.

I call anything that isn't up front & straight forward dangerous
Maybe in hindsight devious would be a better description
Real.com is one of the few utilities that even after you've said no to it communicating to its base it does so anyway
Its well reported on the spyware forum at as coming with a lot of spyware attached
The major danger is how much it can slow your surfing speed down if your on a dial-up connection if you don't 1.remove the spyware 2. use a firewall
When I started using a firewall i discovered real.com was trying to send messages every 2/3 minutes regardless of wether I was online or not.
cheers
