A Question for Producers

Hi, I was just looking for a rough amount someone should look for when selling the rights to a video to be shown on pey-per-view television. Is it a one off fee or should there be a repeat fee?
Thanks for any help.

Can only tell you about my experience when selling material to the Red Hot
Amateur Group, they paid a one off fee of what I consider peanuts. They
own the copyright show it and repeat as much as they like and you do not
receive royalties.I have not dealt with them for a few years now,so would
be interested if it is any different now.

That seems very one way. I would hope with more competition now that they can't have everything their own way. However, was your stuff amateur material or already on sale as a product with a certificate?

Unfortunately, there isn't really any more competition, because most of the stations are owned by the same people.

Damn, good point. A rough figure would be good though. An hour and a half of British footage, currently out on video. Bought for pay per view, what is the ball park figure?
Thanks for any help, or email me if people don't want to say what they get.
Cheers

About the ?1000 mark for 90 mins but thats if they take all the material, punt it out first then sell them the dreggs once you've earn't on it.

Pay TV stations (ie Adult Channel type channel) will pay a licence fee to broadcast your material. A Pay-Per-View station (ie Sky Box Office) will not pay an upfront fee, instead they pay you a percentage of every purchase of the film.

Pay per view as red triangle say's pay on percentage of sales of movie. It's worth noting the normally on take genuine soft-core movies not hard ones edited to soft therfore a TVX style film is not any use to sky. They also look for a plot and how its made. Sat channels like Playboy/TVX/ETC pay about 1500-2000 per 20-30 minute scene. some times they will even edit for you.
