I agree Tomsk, I think I mentioned in an earlier post how some very famous Page 3 Girls in the 80's appeared in magazines under different names. I once even saw Jo Guest in Club International as a girl from California called Sam!!! The next month they made a huge deal of having the amazing Jo Guest from Page 3 as their centrefold! Adele Stephens used to appear regularly in Mayfair as Rachel Robertson, even while she was in The Sun regularly as Adele.

Bloody annoying innit!
That'll be the good ole producers in the quest for ever more disposable assets. Models using the same name repeatedly god forbid, could be seen as boring!!!!!!!
Producers change the girls names ad hoc to suit the flavour of the month & attempt to boost sales with a new name lol.
The girls have a modelling name that most of them adhere to for obvious reasons.

Model I've worked with for years changes her name when she shoots stuff she doesn't want people to know about. She thinks no one will know she does peeing or anal if she calls herself Derek, or whatever. lol She can't grasp the fact that there are pictures of her for people to recognise! Bless her.
Even more ludicrous though is the way people try to pass a 25yr old off as a teenager. Or a blatantly British girl as an american college student.

I think Cerberus hit the nail on the head, it all comes down to sales or relaunching a carrer after a few flop films. Girls should keep the same name because changing it causes all sorts of problems.

Hi guys and gals
just got to say that most of the time its not us who change our names but the directors/script (lol) writers (i can laugh i write em meself) / and magazines. i have always used my real name on the model release and dont put an alternative so why is it i turn up in some mag called veronica or something like that! and as for video i always use my name unless a script calls for a character change then i have to be somebody else for the day! not my problem or doing. some girls do change their name in the vain hope of non recognition but most of us pick one name or use our real name and stick to it if we can.
i had to have my two penny's worth im afraid,
luv n hugs

Yes I have heard of this what Karina says.
It is the producers sometimes that change the name. The models are not always to blame. Its a bit of both I guess. It sure would be better if they stuck with just 1 name. It doesn't even have to be the real name, just a performers name is good enough. If the model chooses to use a real name then thats her choice. But what takes the cake is models with 10 plus alaises, not all of them is her fault. She may have choosen 2 names she likes 2 go by and the rest are names many producers have given her. All she is interested in is doing her job and getting paid for it, so she doesn't seemed to bothered what she was called in film x. A good question would be If any models have ever not liked the name given to her by a producer but could do nothing about it cause the movie was already out.
Would be good to hear a producers point of view also. I think what a few of you have said about marketing a product has got to be true.

I went to great lengths to find a modelling identity for a resident model of mine only for her to end up listed here on BGAFD under a name almost identical to her real one. Just a couple of letters changed. Introduced here by another photographer who (almost) re named her when she told him she didn't want to use her real name. As a result she is known by a name so close to her own it might as well be.
Yes I know that producers often think up a name on the spot, but I can't really accept that it's a marketing strategy, I think it is more likely just producers being oblivious to the fact that many girls are well known. If they need to use new names to sell their product, then that would fall flat when people see it's the same old face. If the punters haven't already seen the face everywhere else, then they must be new to the scene and there was no need to re-name her. If this IS a conscious strategy by some, then I think it is a bit patronising to assume that punters will not recognise old faces.
No, I think what Tomsk meant was when a girl disappears from the modelling scene, only to re appear with new name, new hair style, new boob job etc.

Hi Guys
I have always stuck with the name that I decided on before my career but again have been in various magazines, on websites etc with other names & from a completely different area.
This was again down to the producer, Editor etc. I don't realy see the point as anyone that see it will know that its me.
