Help

Hi all
Perhaps a bit off topic, but I need help.
Occasionally I need to transfer from DVD to Video. Readers of this forum will know why! There is no decent fast forward on DVD except from chapter to chapter.
On second, third et al viewings of some vids, intros etc become boring, so fast forward on Video.
My problem? I transferred with no problem some DVD's obtained from Your Choice and Vidshop (!) - e.g. Big Willy Series. However, I have a sizeable collection of USA DVD's which are perfect on my TV but which will only record in Black and White and with no sound. My DVD machine has been de-area-coded.
Anyone know what I might do?
(Where else could I explain why I need to fast forward on a regular basis??).
Thanks in anticipation.
Charlie

I have a friend with a player that has definately been chipped to play everything and yet it will only play USA dvds (region 1) in black and white. After ages of tweaking we firgured it was the TV that was the problem - it couldn't handle NTSC signals so it came out in B/W.

But you say your TV isn't a problem? It's when you copy. Hmmm. What make is the DVD player? Are you going from DVD to Video using scartleads (big wide ones with loads of pins in them) or S-Video leads or even phonos? Whichever you're trying, use one of the others see if that helps.

You might have to except, some machines just won't copy properly, even though they play everything you put in them.

If you have any REAL urgent ones to copy, I'm happy to help copy them here at home. If you trust me...;)

Hi Ya Mate, You need to buy an NTSC to PAL converter. One of these will set you back ?300. Your R1 DVD's are NTSC, but your video will only record PAL. There is an alternative, buy a Digitron DVD player. These have a built in converter, and you can buy these mail order for about ?250..

I had the same problem with my player when copying to video and i sorted it out by going into the players display options and turning the quasi-pal option to off.
