Have you thought about who you're going to be catering for? As porn gets bigger, so it's audience and consumer base becomes more diverse and specific in what it wants... couples, gays and bi's, anal freaks, bukkake lovers, domination... things are and will continue to cater more for specific tastes and preferences. Come to think of it, maybe that won't effect the British scene so much cos to the major porn manufacturer, we ARE a specific interest!

Assuming that you've thought through things like audeicne, production costs and the like, I'd go with what you enjoy seeing - porn can survive with ridiculously stupid plots, cos it doesn't need them, I reckon. You'd be better off considering who you're aiming at then start from there - some stuff doesn't even need story-lines. And too much story line can lead to overkill ('Flashpoint' anyone?)

Oh Christ, yeah! I cannot beleive the amount of time I waste FAST FORWARDING through PLOT in porn films. I put the tape on to wank over it, not to watch dire acting and stupid plots and dialogue like "You've cheated on me for the last time, Brad. But first, I'm going to make you see what you'll never have again." (stand up Vivid!). Even if the acting IS good, that's not why I put the tape on! I watch "Airplane" to laugh my head off because it's non stop jokes. I watch porn because of the sex and the less of that there is in the film, the less successful the film is. To hell with the plot, just film some attractive people shagging, pay them and then edit the scenes together! No music either, it's bloody annoying.

As a producer and distributor I disagree. You need to set the thing into some kind of context to build some sexual tension (that knot of adrenalin in the pit of your stomach when you know sex might be in the offing) Regardless of what you have said about just wanting to see non stop shagging, you would quickly become bored, the shagging would start to become routine wallpaper,and you would lose interest - which is exactly what is happening in the wider industry, with your Buttfuckers Part Umpteen' and your 'Bukkake Bollocks Part 89'

I know this, we can't sell that kind of stuff anymore, punters aren't interested. Porno needs to be stimulating and exciting. It cannot be that if it is routine, or if you overdoes you audience with it.

I see your point, but you realise most people fast forward through the plot parts if they just want a quick wank. So it shouldn't be Harold Pinter dialogue or Kubrick camera angles, they're not necessary.
