Hi Guys

Can you help me please? I have recently bought 4 videos from the USA and they are in NTSC format. Can anyone recommend a supplier where I can convert them to PAL format please?

Many thanks

Hugh

Yep. most of the ?30 VCRs will happily play NTSC. Make sure the TV can handle it though.

Yeah, if you just want to playback on your TV most VCR's should have a 'NTSC on PAL' playback mode. Sometimes you may need to flick a switch on the back of the unit to get it to work.

Be aware that if you try and make a 'backup' copy to another VCR or recordable DVD from your VCR in 'NTSC on PAL' playback mode that it won't work. The NTSC signal is just chopped a bit so it will play ok on your TV but it's not actually converted to PAL, so if you try and record it again it'll record garbage.
If you plan on doing this you'll need a NTSC to PAL convertor.

Toady.

And a VCR that outputs a true NTSC signal (i.e. an American one). The converter on its own will not be enough, unless you buy a multi-system VCR that converts on the fly - for ?300+.
