If it's not going into licensed shops then there is no point wasting money getting it classified. You can take payments thru the web and as long as they are processed in Holland or any mainland euro country, there's nothing to stop you posting the goods from within the UK.
Licensed shops are no more than a cartel for the big companies and should be avoided like the plague - they give the adult industry a bad name with their dirty mack image, rip-off prices and unpleasant staff (some).

Yes but if he gets a BBFC certificate then he can wholesale to the sex shops himself.
Technically if he takes payments abroad and still sends it via royal mail then he is guilty of sending obscene material through the post. I minor charge I know but as I know to my own costs if the OPS want to get you then they will.
Personally I would suggest selling it yourself and then selling the rights afterwards to a distributor but that would depend if you need your money quickly or can wait a bit.
However my own experience is more with online Dvd stores so hopefully some of the more experienced producers can help you more than I can.

"there's nothing to stop you posting the goods from within the UK."
Nothing apart from the fact that it's illegal and in a worse case scenario one could find one's self banged up and ruined.

This is a charge from the age of steam; it's almost never invoked nowadays - What's obscene about a silver disc? And who defines 'obscene'? A good lawyer would probably make mincemeat out of it.

Best way is to ship it from the continent - your customers won't like that though. They?ll be thinking that Customs will clock it coming into the country and they'll then be subject to a very rude awakening at 6.00 AM, one morning - resulting in stress, fear, and the realisation of what it might be like to live in a Police State. A State one is at odds with. Then, of course they'll be thinking about what the neighbours will say and about what everyone else will say when they're pervy name appears in the papers. You won?t be able to convince them that their fears are unfounded and that this hardly ever happens nowadays - they will just focus on the 'hardly' bit.
But having just one DVD to sell is simply not a viable business proposition. It might have been in the days of 'Deep Throat'. But not today, when there are umpteen trillion seriously tedious adult DVD's available on the net. What are you going to do, have a website built to sell your single DVD? And why would potential customers buy your DVD, anyway? You?ll never get your money back selling 1-2 copies a week, while paying hosting fees, as well.
Sorry to dampen your ardour, but best be realistic.

As far as the OPS are concerned then any hardcore films without a BBFC certificate are obscene even if that film would get a R18 with no cuts. I know this as I have spoken to them in the past 6 months about it.
However they also said that they won't move on this type of stuff unless they receive a complaint from someone about it but if somebody does complain then they have to move on it. That's what their role is.
I agree that the sending of obscene material through the post is a minor charge and I said as much in my first post on this topic. However they do still use it and even though the outcome is likely to be only a caution or a small fine then that is still a criminal conviction.
All I am suggesting to sponge bob is to be careful. I have had my door banged down by the OPS as others on this forum have and it aint a pleasant experience I can tell you.

You can accuse me of being pedantic or splitting hairs, but, except in certain bestiality or peado cases, which are automatically deemed to be obscene, it's up to a jury to decide, and not for the OPS to rule on the matter. They can mount a persecution, if they (and the CPS) feel so inclined, but nowadays if they don't want egg on their face, or feel constrained about wasting taxpayers money, they have to be dam sure that it is something that Joe public will think is beyond the pale.

There's no need to tell me, Eduardo, I've been having my gaff turned over, banged up and invited to appear in court since the early 90's. Jeez, what my associates and I have been through to look after our lovely punter's erotic needs. But they don't appreciate it you know...
