Rico cameraman, come on Jim are you sucking up or are you sucking up, please take time to answer. I have been friends with Rick for 17 years about. He is a cool editor, well learned in our operation and now and again he has had to step into the breach and bork for England (he always seemed to like Fat birds) so he is a cool guy. But I can think of 10 camera guys beter and I am sure he will agree. He has a very placid and un-aggresive manner which means he records the action, the good guys tend to be the opposite and create and direct the action,

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you Phil, I have worked with Rico as my cameraman this year. Everything he shot was well lit, well framed and included all of the action.

He definitely knows one end of a Betacam from another and when the tapes were QC'd, they were free of technical hitches and the light and sound levels were well within legal limits.

As for being non-aggressive, that is exactly what I want from a cameraman, because then he will take direction easily and get the shots that I want.

However, we all have different styles and ways of working, so what might be good for me, may not be good for you.

Are you still shooting on SP I have a box of brand new 30's if you need them. I have the bv100p beta in a case at the service shop. I am gonna sell it when it comes back I haven't used it for about 2years. Work on proDV. E-mail me and I will give you phone no's etc.

Is this Ric Porter the guy that used to semi-present some 20-30 minute videos that used to arrive on the covers of magazines like, er "readers' wives" (or was it "new talent")? I remember there was always some cheesy guy in a suit advertising magazine subscriptions halfway through.

If so, it's funny you should mention about the "Fat Birds" and "stepping into the breach", because I seem to remember the same guy, appearing heavily made up and wearing a massive pair of false knockers in a regrettable scene in one of those - quite put me off my lunch, it did, and the supposed wench was none too skinny either.
