Hello. I purchase/rent from the domestic American market. Some of my favorite ladies are british so I thoroughly appreciate this board/site. I often notice descriptions of films that tell of two (or more?) versions of the movie. When there are notes it usually says that things have been edited out for the "American version", such as water sports etc. I have read all I can find about this but I can't find the answer. How many "versions" are released for each film? One for each market? What defines the markets? Do the production companies or the distributors do the work? What is allowed in Britian and elsewhere that is not allowed in the US? I have read much about the British Censoring practices on this site and it has been very helpful in understanding the phenomenon. If anyone knows how this applies to the US market I would be grateful. Aka "Why can't I see Rocco pissing on Naomi St. James in the American Version of 'Rocco: More than ever?'"...Can you folks in GB see that version? Can folks in other European Countries? Canada? Mexico? etc. etc. Thanks for any help. As an aside, what do some real British citizens think about US airstrikes in Afghanistan? Our media coverage is permeated by your Prime Minister being completely supportive of Bush's new war. What do any normal citizens feel?

Depends who is making them videos. Impossible to answer.

In the case of Britain less is allowed by the bbfc than is allowed in the US. In the case of many European countries, more is allowed to be shown.

Not in copies legally sold in UK,

Yes in Italy, Germany, Holland at a guess, perhaps others.

Some are not supportive, though, according to opinion polls, the majority are. However, please don't ask for comments as some posts were made a few weeks back which tended to start flame wars and were deleted for that reason. Sorry to nip your aside in the bud.
And, to other users of this forum, this policy of deletion will apply to any posts in response that do anything more than express the sympathy I hope we all feel for the events of September 11. If that's censorship, tough. Opinions on the bombing and related matters are off-topic.
