Hi there,
I am currently researching my dissertation on the relationship between prostitution, pornography and performance. I would greatly appreciate any comments in relation to this topic. Do you consider pornography to be a form of acting or a form of prostitution. How do you feel porn models and mainstream actresses differ. Do you feel it is a question of money, status, training, success? How do you feel the media's portrayal of these roles affects public perception of your work. Any input will be gratefully received and a possibility of full length interview. Confidentiality is of course assure if desired.

Hazel.

hazeljade - you might have honest intentions but media types are generally savaged around these parts, you might want to find a flack jacket and tin helmet.

How does doing a dissertation make someone into a "media type"? Give the girl a break...

If you were serious in your academic research then you yourself would become involved in each of the above named fields of prostitution, pornography and performance.Should you actually be committed enough to do this i wish you luck and i am sure there are those on the board who would help you in your research. However if this is just a way of getting cheap thrills and kidding yourself that you are walking on the wild side whilst idling your way towards a degree then you are unlikely to get support from this group.Feel free to express yor outrage at this suggestion,God forbid anyone should write anything from personal knowledge or on a subject they actually care about.
PS please leave out any redundant middle class moral judgements and generalisations

I'm saddened, but not at all surprised by the response that Hazel has got.

What's with this inverted snobbery? The girl's doing a degree so she must be middle class? Bollocks! Look at the amount of students going to university, and the amount of universities and you'll see that's not the case.

As for her doing her dissertation to try and "walk on the wild side" by doing her dissertation on porn and prostitution, do you know anything about Hazel? No you don't. I don't know Hazel at all, but I do know that a very good friend of mine is doing her dissertation on prostitution, because she herself used to be a prostitute. She's writing about what she knows. Can you say Hazel isn't doing the same thing?

Why does porn have a bad reputation? I don't know, I do know that embittered know it alls who jump on any "outsider" that comes here aren't helping the situation.
