DVD/Video Query . . .

In the latest issue of 'Loaded' there's an advert for Private videos/DVD's at suspiciously cheap prices ie: 3 VHS vids (18 Holes, Madness, Pure Sex) for only ?10! - yeah, thats for all 3 videos

Also the same people are offering 2 DVD's (Sex Therapy, Sex Shot)for just ?20!!

Now the obvious question is: does anybody know if this is a 'kosher' deal - I presume they are, seeing that you can get them either via mail/online order OR by calling into selected sex shops across the UK.

My 2nd question is: if they are genuine, then are they full, uncut versions or BBFC hacked-to-pieces soft versions, I mean I am aware that there has been a degree of relaxation as far as the law is concerned, but to what extent?

If anyone can light on my queries, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Pagangod.

I have not seen the ad but if it contains a list of Private Shops then give it a very wide berth. Mr Sullivan you see. He has had a few quid off me before I grew up and realised what a thief he is. I can not understand why so many of this forums readers buy his ghastly rags.

And I can't understand, after 12 months +, why a lot of the porn buying public cannot grasp the concept of the 'R18' movies, or the current attitude of customs to imports!

Oh, and I don't know about the particular offer you mention Pagan - but whatever it is, it is just another cynical DS scam - although the material on offer may now be genuine HC. DS and his minions will be laughing up their sleeves at greedy, cheapskate, suckers who can always be relied upon to fall for the 'something for nothing' ploy.

Take my advice and go to a proper site/company, buy a proper HC video and pay the proper price for it. I assume DS does have the rights to reproduce some Private material - like "The Tower' for instance. But they are not puka Private products - which are beautifully made and presented - they are cheap, nastily presented, piss-taking beer mats. DS will have purchased the rights to reproduce the movies in a way and format that he sees fit for a UK market, i.e. cheap and nasty. After all, as Gerald Ratner pointed out, the British public will buy any old crap, just so long as it's cheap. So I?m afraid British porn fans get the material they deserve

I now feel duly warned and slightly told off by the ever patronising Dr. No.

Thanks for your more even-handed advice Mr. Magoo!

As for the point made by Dr. No about the British public R18 certification - well, my friend it's been around for quite a while now and of course with Gov. legislation it's definition has changed (ie: goalposts) all I wanted was clafication as I am not fully aware of the CURRENT situation as far as H/C is concerned in this country, but in your zeal to patronise you actually failed to clarify...

Calm down, calm down,

Allow me to clarify - the R18 films are almost exactly the same as the original porn produced in Europe or the US. A list of cuts made can be found on the ever-helpful Melon Farmer's site. Also, HMCustoms is now not really bothered about anything that is substantially the same as you can view anywhere in the EU. My tip would be that unles you have some special tastes (best not dwell on that) you should order from the US as the US is a little more restrictive than the EU so you'll be OK with customs and of course there are some good places with good prices to buy from. I renetly bought 6 DVDs from fivestardvd.com and they arrived a week later (had to pay about 9 quid at the PO - custom's charges). Great service and great prices - how I wish I hadn't thrown money in the direction of Vidshop.com!
