re-releasing old films

The music shops are full of re-released CDs of little known bands from the last few decades on small labels who are not necessarily the original label/distributor. Many small operations buy the rights (and masters) to old releases and put them out again. They don't have to sell many copies as they have no production costs and they often wait for enough orders to do a print run. A nice little sideline.

I was wondering if this is a viable proposition for those hard to find eighties videos some of us are after. What if Ben D, Rem Steele, etc pooled the old masters they have and bunged out some old stuff under one banner. Perhaps slightly cheaper than the new stuff. With the resurgence in interest for this era and the relaxation in the law is this now viable? Would the BBFC fees hinder it?

I appreciate that we might have the impression that there is a demand for this material when in reality this site is for the more discerning specialist and the potential is actually small. However, I have been amazed at the amount of interest in old stuff and people wanting to re-live their youth!! Also amazed how many people are using companies making cash selling illegal copies of deleted films.

It would certainly help me with my unfruitful search for british eighties hardcore featuring certain models. They could be packaged woth some interesting insights into the era from those who were there at the time!!

How feasible is it chaps?

tis a great idea they must have some great stuff hidden under the stairs and in the attic, but the cynical part of me knows this wont happen as people in this industry are only in it for the money and they know that vol 25 in whatever series will sell more than old stuff shame really.
come on boys have a rumage about for that 80's masters and get a series going i'm sure all of us would buy it just for the novelty value and the clothes and haircuts.what about out takes i've got an american 3 hour vid of best of porno out takes and its fucking funny.it would make a change at least

hear me now Zasuna

If I could be so presumptuous as to differ with the omnipotent Zasuma. My colleagues and I would just like to point out that we are not "only in it for the money" as, sadly, the porno boom days are long gone. We're in it 'cause we find it a more agreeable way of earning a crust than having to do some mind numbingly boring, cap-dothing, 9-5 activity.

However, I would concur that the majority of today?s porno output is unerotic, unsatisfying, production line humping. And a lot of stuff, from the States in particular, is downright off-putting - you know the kind of crap I'm on about " Extreme Bukake Buttreamers Volume Umpteen" Hey, what happened to simple fucking and sucking? To tell you the truth I can hardly bare to watch any longer. And like your good selves I find myself seeking out adult material from the 80's and early 90's. Which did give me the half baked idea of buying up the rights to some older material and re-releasing it. After all, anything is new if you have not actually see it before.
