At the risk of provoking a load of hate mail, is there anyone else who thinks that the Ben Dover format has had its day?

We are all well aware that the street chat ups are a set up and the 'auditions' completey phoney, so what's the point? Why not just get into the playtime? Some page three starlet pretending to be a first timer is a joke.

Don't get me wrong, I love Uncle Ben and think he is an absolute hero. I just worry that the format has gone on long enough and he could rejuvenate the UK porn scene with something new and innovative. If anyone can do it, Ben can.

Incidentally, are any of the early tapes still available? As i think Ben has allready explained in varies posts (here or on his own site) It costs too much to do the pre-stuff in the way he used in the first films. Plus other companies that he sells the films too (and i guess his main income is from them?)
usually cuts it out of the films anyway.

I know the chat up scenes are phoney but the humour and build up is still good. Yes I admit I laugh at Bens jokes (hey, I`m sick. I need help!). But overall its still better porn than the opposition at the moment.

The "market research" scenario has, as Magoo says, been repeated ad infinitum, but the one I think you mean is from Dover's 9th with Claudia (aka FC's Ilse). I don't think she ever went further than BJ/facials, a damn' shame.......

The 1980 film Blonde Ambition starred Suzy Mandel and Dory Devin (whoever she was, a total mystery to the internet) as a dire song and dance act who go to New York from out west (what a British song and dance act was doing out west is not explained) and, among other things, appear in stag loops made by 'Ben Dover Productions'.

I would suggest that the Ben Dover site is visited and that BEN's response is there for all to read on the question of his "changing style" in which he says that there were some real street pickups in the early days with varying success's and also the HIV tests weren't used. Other reasons are on there as to why the style has had to change- very interesting.

I was just pointing out a bit of trivia, not suggesting it had influenced anyone. It caused a mild titter when I watched the film which had several other mildly funny moments, such as Jamie Gillis directing a hard core spoof of Gone With The Wind and shouting instructions through a megaphone to a sort of synchronized mass mock rape of southern belles by Yankee soldiers, e.g. 'Lunch!' - I leave you to guess what that meant in this context.
