I read on a past thread that Renee Richards was retiring is this true. !sad!

I doubt Renee is leaving the business.
Alex from interviewed her at Passion this year and asked her that very question.

But in the first part of that interview (at http://a-rouse.com/?p=82) it says:

Renee must not leave us. She is at the top of the profession and even the Americans have nothing to compare with our little rose.

She might be moving as she suggested in the interview but I doubt she'd quit (my personal opinion!
