Future of BGAFD?

Where do the owners see this place in ten years? will it eventually be just an archive of girls who appeared in "films" that had a theatrical/vhs/dvd/tv release? because those formats will be virtually obsolete in ten years, save tv.
it's happening more often and will continue to happen more frequently. what do i speak of? unlisted british performers of course. in the past week twice i have watched a british girl in a hardcore scene only to find that she is not listed on the database. where did i see these scenes, well you've already guessed: teh internets of course.
as physical media gives way to digital media, where nothing exist only ones and zeros yet the content remains the same, can the bgafd adjust to keep up? there will be far fewer "films" released as the concept of a film will be lost to the format of "scenes." as producers shift their wares from tangible discs to internet servers and then to customers hard drives what need will a producer have to produce a "film" when they can get more customers by offering specific stars in specific scenes. i'm not going to pay for 5 scenes when all i want is 1 specific scene.
how long will it be before the bgafd has no need to update it's database as there will no films "released?"

I think the place will adapt.
Perhaps the 'film' element will end up being lost / archived but the main thing is the database so that may change to include website work.
Most come here (initially) because they have heard of X and want to know what others things they have done.
I know what your saying about scenes but most 'films' I have seen have been made up of scenes and the 'film' listings relate to them.
Perhaps the girls could have website work they have been in listed with it related to the scenes on the sites .

The BGAFD is a brilliant site to keep up with the news & facts of whats going on in the UK Pro industry, i do admit it only Pro stars get mentioned & not the amateur which is the biggest part of the UK industry.
We ourselves have been going for over a decade & have made dozens of films but are barely mentioned on the data base where as new producers 2-5 years old get a lot of coverage so it luck of the draw.
This site is fair in its approach & can only database what info it recieves so its up to the 1000's of Amateurs as well as the Pro's to keep them informed,
i think it will be around in years to come simply because its interesting & free which is a rare thing today.

I think you trumpet 'the death of DVD' prematurely.
Sure, d/l has its advantages- mainly for the producer rather
than the consumer. Cheaper, quicker, no need to deal with
distribs, etc.
For the consumer?
Generally poorer quality, d/l problems, the multiplicity of video
formats, having to obtain hard copy by tedious burning to disc
[and trying a hand-shandy whilst crouched over a monitor, or
snaking wires across one's lounge to a TV is not recommended
by most doctors...]. Not generally cheaper, either, at least not
so far. And you only have to read posts here to see how much
harder it is to pursue a consumer beef with a vague online outfit
rather than retailers who have an identifiable physical location.
Nah... for now, you do the work, package it up in a nice small
disc, and let me watch- hassle-free.

To say that the BGAFD wont be here in ten years time would be like saying porn wont be here in ten years, the database is an archive of information from the past to the present and will always be of value to a lot of people, and the forums are a place of discussion and also a place for producers to promote their products wether it be a dvd, website or whatever new tech media advances lay ahead !thumbsup!

Trumpet the death of dvd prematurely JJ?
The facts speak for themselves that downloads have surpassed sales of dvds which in turn maybe on the rise last year for main stream discs but definitely a depressing all time low for a lot of people who still earn their living mainly by it.
I cant see a resurgence in this when the collectors are few and far between for the fact that so much porn is produced now that collectors dont bother collecting anymore. It makes sense to just download and watch then delete then watch the next one and if you've got a membership you can always get it back the next time.
I can see the BGAFD including websites in the future.

Not sure if thye Bear is trumpeting the full death of either the BGAFD or DVDs, however he is asking a question about whether this site needs to adapt to changing technologies.
One way that could be achieved would be by listing girls who have appeared only in (more than a certain number of?) internet released scenes but no physical releases. My suspicion is that this would require a lot more work - some from the site owners, but also a much wider input from a variety of contributors to the site owners to keep them informed e.g. Major Uk sites would provide updates about new girls for the site owners who would compile / verify.
So the point the Bear makes is I think a fair one but any solution may will some effort and may need a wider community of people inputting rather than the burden falling on the BGAFD Supremos.

Hi Kim
The reason amateurs dont get a mention here is most likely because they dont inform anyone outside of their circle of what they have been doing. Most producers (including myself) started from an amateur background and its not until I had product with companies that advertised that I became better known.
I was a mystery to a lot of people when my movies were being pirated up and down the country with several of my own customers telling me they can get my videos from some one selling at 3 for a tenner and pretending that they actually made those videos hence the name One Eyed Jack came into being.
Amatuers need to brand their product and have a distinctive style that people will notice, otherwise you will get lost in the crowd of other people who are doing exactly the same thing.
You have become more well known over the years for exactly that.
I started out on Viewers Wives before Your Choice noticed me and invited me to shoot a series in my own style and I guess thats where I got a higher profile and stood out (though I was known before on the pro circuit as that mad man up in Barnet who films you shagging in cabs and trains LOL)
I didnt even know I was pro until I was told I cant supply anything more for viewers wives because people dont see you as amateur anymore.

It's just a place to come to for an on-line punch-up.
