Can anyone advise me as to the best DVD player for adult vids. I read somewhere that some players don't work well on adult discs (something to do with the quality). Has anyone had any problems?I would be buying Ben's discs and also Ana/Diabolic discs, has anyone experienced any problems with these.
Cheers in advance.

I would have thought any multi region would do the job, most of the sub ?200 are multi or hackable.

All American porn DVDs are Region 0 anyway and so are most European ones - those that aren't being region 2 which is not a problem in the UK. Some have a poor quality picture because the conversion was done on the cheap, from a VHS tape or for similar reasons. By far the worse conversions I've seen were of Pasolini's Decameron and Canterbury Tales and they were done by the British Film Institute and are region 2.
Someone might correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any DVD player can't play region 0 discs - that being the whole point of region 0 coding. If there is a problem with American porn DVDs it is more likely to be with the TV being old and not capable of coping with NTSC-mastered DVDs.
Worth noting

When buying a DVD player/recorder one of the most important but often overlooked considerations (esp if say, being used on the portable telly in the bedroom)is the connection to the TV!There will be no RF convertor, so connection via scart or other AV input is vital as connecting through the aerial socket is usually not an option.Connecting through the aerial socket via a VCR scart/RF out socket usually results in macro "flagwaving" problems, so you would have to buy an additional modulator.
As for which brand to buy, well, any player should do the trick, but one with multi region capbilities at least gives you options when buying non porn DVD's (I've heard some people do that sort of thing!). Even if not advertised as such, a lot of machines are multi region just with a few 'secret' button pushes obtained by searching the web for DVD hacks.
If cost is a consideration, then my advice would be that if you only want to buy one of the cheapest players on the market then it would be better to buy from one of the big chain stores. In my experience, if there is a problem playing certain discs, then software updates to correct this can be easily obtained by shops that have a large technical service base. That's not to say that only cheap players may suffer from this problem, but in my experience it may be more likely, esp if the player (design/software)production is rushed through, say to make the xmas market.
I hope this information is useful and I apologise if I've gone over old ground, but it's worth stating all of the above, even if it saves just one person from DVD hell (as a technician I've seen plenty of people make plenty of complaints about all manner of DVD related problems).Good luck, and happy (porno) viewing!!
Regards, Rob.

The only problem disc I have ever found is Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. This won't play on sub ?150 players. The reason - too much in the way of extra features compressed onto the disc. You should never have that problem with porn.
NTSC question

If I buy an American region 0 DVD will it be NTSC? - I don't think our telly is NTSC compatable...(its about 6 years old)

As long as it has a SCART input socket in the back, you'll be ok.
