Is there no way this site cannot be made available only to registered users. If we only had registered users we would'nt get so many wind up, an sicko posts an we would'nt have people stealing other peoples names an then making hoax posts in there name.

I agree, this forum has turned from unique and interesting, to tiresome and dull. I'm sure it's only two or three people, as well, god knows what they're trying to achieve but it's just gotten a bit predictable and grating. Please change this forum!

Hi Guys,

Only been on the board for a while, so have not been exposed to the things you are talking about. Is there no moderator for this board, who screens postings? What sort of thing are you looking to cut out by a registration process?

Duncan.

Spam, mostly, i think, and abusive anonymous posts.....is it feasible only to allow posts accompanied by a verifiable addy?

Whilst I have some sympathy with this, I feel that this (and other) similar forums exist for people to air their views etc, and not everyone is going to be in complete agreement with each other. To restrict this by using a registration system would be detremental to this as the voicing of views and opinions should not be governed by weather you are registered or not; and is the pirating of others' names really such a problem?Somebody has an axe to grind here.

An addy-verification system wouldn't preclude freedom of access, just weed out the ididots. You might feel a little differently if someone had traduced you by using your name as a cover for unsavoury posts.

I use my real name, I don't see why everyone else can't do the same.

Sounds foolproof, capital idea!

[As was perfectly obvious before I checked, this post was not made by John Mason, but I've left it up as, in this instance, it makes a valid point - Alec.]

What sort of moron would use someone elses name to cause trouble. I did not make that post and I am sure that Alec & Co can verify that it did not come from my IP. What a fucking cretin.
