The actual question should really read do fans really give a shit?

This topic always comes up every now and again in heated conversations with models and producers and I find my feelings on this rather ambiguous and not sure why porn fans should even be expected to care. I mean the industry turns out the product and its up to you whether you buy it or not but I remember Kelly Steel once launched an offensive on this and had me wondering about the fans who say they are fans but have never paid for anything to show their support

So , over to the fans. In your own words. people grumble that UKAP leave people out of commenting on the producers forums but in truth I wonder if anyone really cares enough to get involved anyway.

I for one dont expect you to butmaybe some feedback may change my opinion (or reinforce it)

Do porn fans even really care about what goes down in the adult industry?
How far would you go to support that opinion?

i only buy from a licensed shop luckily there's a fair few not that far away although i can see that many 'fans' would have to travel a long way depending on where they live and would therefore find it easier to download legally or otherwise. I only download scenes which aren't available on dvd here and to be honest it probably doesn't amount to more than ten scenes in total. The streaming sites probably hurt the industry as much as the file sharing sites. Obviously pirate dvds for sale on markets and car boots will hit legitimate sales but in the last couple of years there seems to have been a decline at least in what is openly on show. As i've said before the mail order nonsense ie not being able to send dvds through the post in britain is the killer for you in my opinion and as you've said yourself producers would happily sell dvds at a tenner a time if this obstacle was removed but i don't think you'll get this changed although surely it's a restiction of trade. I don't think the licensed shop film exchanges help you at all and i can't think of another situation where anything similar is allowed - to be honest it doesn't seem that different to file sharing to me as it's surely encouraging folk to take home a dvd and copy it, return it a week later and the only one who benefits is the shop who doesn't have to re-order any stock. so if paying for stuff equates to caring then yes i do but if you can get the price down to a tenner each instead of fifteen if i buy a certain number then i'd appreciate it. There must be a considerable amount of money going through each of these shops as at a guess i'd say the ones i go in have several thousand, all certified, titles.

I have a lot of dvds of Bev Cocks with b/g content.
I have loads of Ben Dovers vids and dvds.
I have loads of Johnny Rebel dvds.

I do care about content. That is why I prefer the above, though I do have piles of vids of different productions and quality which is not as good as our home grown gonzo apparachiks.

In answer to your question Terry do fans care a shite i think the real fans do but the majority who are just porn surfers dont as they are just looking for their next porn freebie, it could be likened to use your local corner shop,post office or pub or they will be forced to close, well a lot of them have closed and lets hope that porn sites dont go the same way, still i suppose if one closes another two will come along to take its place.

To highlight a point, a producer colleague addressed the tide of US content dominating our shelves and was trying to get a campaign going to get more British product in the shops to which I lamented "Why bother?" I expect a lot more people prefer US product over british which is why those shops stock it...same as the more main stream movies

Or for instance that product UK product was branded as being health industry compliant...stuff like that.

Is this stuff lost on the fans. I always say "The fans wont support it" because I dont feel the average person would give a damn in supporting it. (Why should they?)

ie Do people care that their products were made in an exploitative environment as long as its good or cheap...?

I mean , would fans support causes? ie legalising hard core on tv screens or such things like that?

I know plenty people complain about Ofcom and some have even talked about going on a rally....That sort of thing but I have never heard anyhting but peopel with self serving interests that have persued things like this.

Im probbaly being vague as its not just the one thing in particular. Just trying to get some feedback from fans is all.

For instance if people wanted The Hot Boxes and Adult Live stuff to remain a permanent fixture would they support it? Im not talking about the ones who subscribed but in general?

Even if its a "Why should we give a f****!!!" i would dem that an honest answer.

personally i prefer british stuff (unless sativa rose is in it in which case i don't care - with the exception of her max hardcore movie which i wouldn't touch with someone else's bargepole). At least one of the stores i frequent is i would guess 60/40 in favour of british movies and that's where i spend the most. I think part of the problem is that the british porn buying public is predominantly brainwashed into believing that jenna jameson etc - who i wouldn't cross the street to buy a dvd of - are the be all and end all of porn films by magazines like fhm, loaded etc whereas the long-time fans will have discovered lesser known talent who simply aren't given or don't want the publicity that they deserve. maybe a uk version of something along the lines of avn would change things.

I've spent a fair few quid on stuff over the years, even paid a lot on customshoot stuff. But it pisses me off when some freeloader ask if he can
have this or that for nothing, when you have had to pay for it.
Sure i have got some stuff free, but that's only because the other person has paid for what he got that i hadn't.
