Now I?m clearing out much of my valuable collection ? literally thousands of classic images!

I have the same problem. Currently busy scanning them for the sites and then shredding them.

No one will buy slides anymore. !tears!

Very sad, I have just been scanning some Kodachrome and no matter how good digital is, there is just that something about transparency.

Yep, scanned all mine last year, probably approaching 200,000, thank god for the nikon batch feeder!

Shredding them? What type of shredder are you using? The shredders I've tried can't handle transparencies.

It's one made by Sigma and will handle 15 sheets of paper at a time. We got it from an office equipment store here in Czech. Sure they will have them in the UK.

How did you find the quality of the finished product after you scaned your slides?
The reason I ask is that I have purchased a slide scanner, but am not happy with the finished results. I could be doing something wrong.
I am having to scan the slides as they are taking up too much room in my loft.

It must have been a real drag for you scanning that amount of slides.

Unless you spend a small fortune on a scanner you'll never get the same quality unless you go for a small image and big file size.

Quality was fine for a scan of a slide, trouble is, people compare them with digital originals, and they don't look too good compared side by side, but when viewed by themselves, they're fine.

I used a Nikon 4000 scanner with vuescan software, and a SF200 bulk feeder, which meant I could load 40-60 (depends on mount thickness) slides at a time and let it batch scan them, so I could do other things, and just reload the feeder every 40-ish minutes.
