Paedophilia is nothing to laugh about.......although the entrapement implications are disturbing, as is the 1984-ish notion that the authorities can legislate what we fantasise about.
How will the chatroom ban be enforced?

'Paedophilia is nothing to laugh about'

(the Brass eye attitude ?the first person to accuse me of being a paedophile wins a prize!(a punch in the face))

How can an officer impersonate a teenager and get away with it?
'He eventually committed the indecent act into his web cam, sending the images to the undercover detective'

So he sent pics to an adult? Is that illegal? Is it illegal to pose as underage?

He admitted four charges of gross indecency and a further six counts of being in possession of indecent images of children.

The main(?) evidence was of pics sent to an adult posing as a child. Is this some kind of entrapment?

'Paedophilia is nothing to laugh about'-
making jokes about Gary Glitter/Jonathon King etc isn't funny?

'Did you actually READ my post?'
yes.(maybe I interpreted it differently/incorrectly)

Entrapment implications - I agree.

Paedophile jokes? Depends on whether they're funny.
NOT funny is the idea that HMG can legislate what I fantasise about.......on an average day that would make me guilty of mass murder/multiple infanticide at the very least. Most of us, I imagine, have thoughts that we'd rather weren't aired publicly and certainly wouldn't ever act upon.
There is a school of thought that paedophiles may be an exception to this rule: namely that, sooner or later, they WILL act out their fantasies. This then leads us into the murky realms of prosecution not for what one has done, but what one MIGHT do: a sign of true totalitarianism.
If the guy sent pics to anyone, adult or otherwise, and the recipient was "offended" by them, and/or he masturbated via a web-cam link, then prosecutions could be obtained under the Obscenity/Indecent Behaviour laws.
If a police officer can pose as a drug dealer to secure evidence for a conviction, then the thick end of that particular wedge is that, yes, one could pose as a child for similar purposes. There are no guidelines that I know of as to what degree of dissimulation is unacceptable.
Our judges, with about three notable exceptions, seem blissfully unaware that there is no basis whatsoever in UK law for the police to encourage/abet the public in breaking same. A Civ Libs organisation might one day like to try prosecuting an officer involved in such a "sting" as an accessory.
Still laughing: God, I hope not.

Lets simplify this.........

Please, please, please guys !

Lets take all of the bullshit out of this. All the 'The government cannot control my fantasies' crap. The coersion and they will they, wont they offend ?

The bottom line is that humans are complexed, with differing sexual desires and it has to be accepted that we all like what 'we'like and usually get what we want and need. And provided that no-one gets hurt it should be acceptable.

However should you be the type that has even ONE SINGLE thought
in your head that connects 'children' with 'sex' then you are SICK! Seriously, you are beyond help and other than deporting you to an inescapable island, i feel the only other alternative is lethal injection. But i get accused of being harsh.
I applaud the Police tactics used to root out the sickest shit in our midst and what a great way to obtain damming evidence.

Children are children and let them be that, thereafter should there ever be a job vacancy for Paedophile Executioner I would
volunteer tomorrow. And that IS death to people that even
'think' about it, let alone do it.

Man my blood boils !

fuck the entrapment, fuck the impersonation, fuck the fact that he sent the pics to an adult and not a child.

The fact is this guy is sick and should be castrated - maybe then we can rid the world of this scourge.

Six months in jail and banned from entering chat rooms for life? What message are we passing to other paedophiles - is this really a deterrent of any shape or form? I don't think so....

That's the first really funny thing that's been said in this entire thread.
