dear thicko, .mpg files may need a specific codec (you should get an error message and a request to download the codec to play the mpg file.)
try www.divx.com

Unzip them?

Get winzip, double click the file and save the file to disk. It's all automatic and even I can do it.

Not all PCs have winzip included. Mine didn't anyway. If this is the case and you are trying to play a media file which has been zipped up to make it smaller hence easier/quicker to download you need to unzip it at your end. Only then will you be able to play it.

Try www.winzip.com and download their free version. I have used this on many occasions to zip and unzip very successfully.

Save the file to wherever you want - for example create the following new directory (see "help" when you press "start")

c:/zipfiles

Then start the winzip program and it will ask you various questions such as which files do you want to unzip - then browse for your "zipfiles" directory and unzip. Easy really.
