Hi, its been a while since Ive seen a real discussion on here that we could all learn from as fans and as producers of high quality porn.

So what makes a good porn film?

I reckon its got to be good pacing, its no good when you just rush into the sex or the girls is aready naked at the start of the scene. The cast list should build well, how many times have you sen a ben dover film or an omar film where they shagged some gorgeous woman at the start and then left a minger for the finale and totally ruin your buzz!

Another thing is penetration shots, fair enough its dirty and to loo right at a spread asshole is cool, but for the whole film when the girl as an exceptional body or even just a pretty face or great tits, you need to show the bodies, not just the holes.

And when it comes to the cumshot, where do you think it should go, should they all be facials or all be over the ass?

I think youve got to find the best part of the girl and cum on that, if shes pretty its the face, big tits on the tits or a great ass... And so on...

That might make things a little bit routine but I think that you need to change the trends that are emerging otherwise porn is going to drag itself down. I for one watch porn with my girlfriend and although she likes the fact that there really is sex happening in front of you, its the constant penetration that puts her off. So for the sake of my sex life and for my own wanking purposes, lets figure out what the perfect porno would be like, directors, cast, actors, everything.

one thing you missed out is believability. the trouble is most porn directors miss it out too. 99% of all porn scenarios are cliched and poorly written/acted/directed etc. consider this: a well directed sex scene froma mainsteam hollywood film can be extremly erotic, sexually charged and arousing (for me anyway, but it's still many times softer than anything that could be considered porn. The way I see it the mainstream directors have got it harder; they've got to make you believe in the situation AND make you believe the character are actually having sex. if they can pull it off, there's no excuse for porn films. it's not about budgets it abouts imagination and talent.

To me, looks of the female cast are important but not the key to a really hot scene. The one key ingredient to make a scene really sizzle is that the female star should really let herself go and appear to enjoy the sex. If she loses control completely or seems to 'forget' that the camera is there all the better. I think its pretty obvious when the woman is faking orgasms and moaning for the sake of it, I don't understand why they do it, surely no-one falls for it?
One of my bugbears is over-editing, I like the scene to run as naturally as possible in real time.
I like a slow lead up the the sex, an interview with the girl or short storyline at the start. The initial penetration shot is important. It really annoys me when the scene cuts straight to the guy pumping away...All my favourite scenes feature at least two guys per girl - I love seeing a DP.
As for the quality of the cast, Anabolic just amaze me - where the hell do they find all those georgeous 18 year olds?
I prefer the cumshot on the face or internal for a nice creampie.
The film makers I prefer would be Ben Dover and Anabolic/ Diabolic. (Ben Dover is the only British film maker I've watched)

Well aside from beautiful women, for me it's the camera work.
Its subjective, but im not interested in storylines.

Unfortunately, in todays films most producers are very, very formulaic and importance is not stressed on creativity, differing angles or close ups.

One example are PRIVATE films. Yes, lovely girls and exotic locations but the camera work is very frustrating as it changes the angle every 10 seconds and you just cant focus, its almost like an annoying pop video. (Except Frank Thring productions)

Other examples are West Coast / Diabolic / Anabolic / etc.
This is where you have maybe 6/8 scenes of :-

4) Various Vaginal penetration positions
5) Various anal penetration positions

ALL STANDARD ANGLES, END OF SCENE.

Then on to the next girl, the same, next girl, etc etc YAWN !
Okay maybe sometimes its two guys / two girls, but the routine is always the SAME. So we all just fast forward to the bits we like, dont we ?

I just think its a pity that someone NEW doesnt come up with
some different faces with good action, shot with great detail close up and experiment with unusual angles.

The only person who has done this successfully is MAX HARDCORE (I know he is abored) but he SHOULD recieve credit for the photography. After all, others, who are also creative, such as Rocco and John Stagliano have both previously sited Max Steiner as a major influence on their work.

I am not promoting Max, because generally he IS bad news, but he
DID revolutionalise modern (Gonzo) pornography.
