Back Catalogues etc

Thought id have a good clear out of all the porn catalogues i had in the house all neatly filed away under every supplier company that are legitimate and trustworthy.

Had a collection of some 500 Catalogues from approx 7 suppliers going right back to 1996 ( some as late as 1992 ).

Placed ad in trustworthy local paper and had a collector round viewed them all took ages. paid me ?150.00 for the lot.

Methinks i should of given them to Alec and Phil for good reference material if not anything else. Hasten to say that the 1catalogue i overlooked and should of kept was one all About Savannah ( she who commited suicide i believe) anyway the guy phoned me up last night he just auctioned it off to the statesas it lists nearly all her films and with very good pics and details etc. Bastard got $275.00 dollars just for that 1 catalogue.

just goes to show that you never realise wat you had until you let it go.

Never mind im building the collection back up ... no doubt i will create another big batch of goodies.

Upset now.

Richard

Stable door and horse bolted situation, but you could have tried Ebay in the states for some of these cats and had the money yourself.

I trust Richard had the decency to actually purchase a few videos from the catalogues he 'collected.' Printers don't give them away free you know. Nor do the folks who compile them do it because they've nothing better to do! It can cost a quid or more to put a decent catalogue pack together - not a lot of dough - till you have to send out 10,000! I get the impression from some punters that they seem to assume that catalogues are conjured out of thin air the way they Cavalierly order brochures, have a flick through then never order anything. I have a theory that those who don't order are sickoes and saddoes, looking for something unspeakable and when they find out it's just good old fucking and sucking and the merchandise is not free they loose all enthusiasm.

i share your sentiments in that entirely and yes i did order films from them .....quite alot in fact ....how else do you think i ammased a collection that size.

I know how filmmakers and suppliers alike feel .... i know im married to a Hardcore Model and know how our friends feel when their products are ripped off etc etc etc and the collectors just want pics in free catalogues.

Then again, catalogues, a form of advertising, are a necessary business expense..........and as your shop front, people are perfectly entitled to 'window shop'.
I am MUCH more likely to purchase from a well-illustrated, professional-looking cat with good descriptive notes than a photocopied sheet that looks like a piece of used toilet paper.
If you didn't send out cats unless there was a promise to purchase I don't think you'd be in business very long.
[Have a big-ish collection, before you start, but then I do also buy a fair few.]
I mourn the loss of a potentially very useful reference collection...........why wasn't the Arts Council informed? We need to know, am writing to MP.
