The US market is in the claart aswell according to the Telegraph. Free download sites and internet piracy have killed the studios.
On the other hand I think the top US stars have much better business nous than ours and keep themselves in better nick. Some of our older girls look a little jaded compared to Nine Hartley or Julia Ann.

They have a better "business nous because they understand that everything about being in the media (and porn can be considered the same with many people like Sasha Grey crossing over to mainstream) is about image and looking good in general.

Many believe image is more important than even talent. You can create talent in a studio these days but if the girl looks like a slob its going to be a lot harder to convince people

From discussion with the models I work with yes if after the initial surge of work when new to the scene they want more than irregular money they need to do something in addition to modeling but there are options other than escorting although admittedly little can match the hourly rate.

Several do, or at least did, get a decent income from webcam work and membership of their own websites, both mainly from the USA. The downside for webcamming is having to be working very late at night and into the early hours when evening in USA.
