from softcore to harder shots

Thinking back to the early / mid 80's when I used to get the odd Mayfair, Men Only Club magazines etc. I aways believed then that the gap between the magazine girls and the hardcore girls was huge... recently looking at some vintage sites its interesting to see photoshoots from those magazines but with far harder content... i.e. pulling lips apart etc.... same girls... same shoot

Were there girls then that wanted just to pose naked for photographers and thats all... no pink shots... no hardcore ambitions etc. do some sets then "disappear" ?

Now days most models seem to start soft but end up getting very hardcore not to far on.

Hope that all makes sense

Yes, there were girls happy just to do nude work, for whatever reasons, some just wanted to, some wanted short term, big earnings, to make enough money to buy a car, etc, then quit.

More importantly, there was a market for it, and it was relatively well paid for both model and photographer.

Things have changed, of course. These days, if you want to be paid more than ?50, you have to take a cock up each nostril, and have someone vomiting on your arse in order to make a buck.

There is quite a famous story along these very lines. A very famous page 3 girl from the 80's (the most famous) did some 'pink' shots and then became very big so her dad offered to buy the said shots from the tog in question and they settled at ?40,000 yes ?40K. Now my question is did the dad subsequently destroy the pic's (slides) or has he still got them because he and his daugther don't speak anymore !
John Graham and I shot Tracy Neve a couple of times and she was a nightmare to shoot.

Interesting Dave... as someone who worked in the 80's who was the best "softcore"girl that you shot but, even if you asked, would never ever have considered going any further...

Joanie Allum's site has a lot of famous shoots with the model showing far more than we ever saw in MO and Mayfair!!

Well Roy Stuart and I shot the famous Donna (the body) Ewing set in Longleat House so she would be the best girl. The best 3 that did do h/c that I shot would have to be Sarah Young, Stacy Owen and Andrea Clark.

But back then it was different, the harder 'pink' or American shots were done for the American mags. If you didn't do them, they simply wouldn't buy the set no matter who it was.

And Terry, here ya go :-

A softcore model back in the 80's would be offered more money for Continental or American mag thinking that back home would never find out, one plus or minus point of the internet.

Can't recall the wording, but there's usually a 'media formats yet to be invented" and "planets yet to be discovered" in music recording contracts, the media one is fairly common in models releases.
