NTL reckon their service is not available to my street. Which is odd because people in surrounding streets have it. Mind you it was an automated answer sevice that told me this because as with most large companies speaking to a human is not allowed.

Are there any other cable companys I could try apart from NTL?

if you live in the london area i'd recommend .

for a flat rate of ?20 per month you get 115200bps access, which seems to work out at an average download sped of around 80000-100000bps. on a 56k dial-up you're lucky to get 35000, in my experience.

My better half has Homechoice and can't praise it enough: not sure if they do it down your way Magoo.

Dont think its available round here but thanks anyway gents. Looks like Ill have to stick with what I have for the time being.

Cable would not only save me money on internet but also solve the crap TV reception I get aswell. It looks like I might end up going back to Sky to solve the latter problem.

All I can say is lucky you! I've been with NTL for about two years now and can honestly say that their service, attitude and reliability all stink and that as soon as my contracted agreement is up I shall be looking elsewhere posthaste.
