melonfarmers has posted the recent online chat in which robin duvall, direcor of the bbfc, took part (as did our v. own joe king):
let's have a heated debate!

The relaxation of censorship has been good in some ways, bad in others.
Good points are more choice, end of Victorian values that nobody in the UK actually enjoys sex, UK producers can sell their stuff on the home market.
Bad points are the sickos who think defocation, watersports, violence and genuinely unnatural acts should now be available in your local Blockbuster.
Also the majority of licenced shops are run by low-life who think the punter is a plank who wants ripping off, not a loyal customer like the person who uses banks, garages etc. The female orifice who runs the Private Shop in in our town makes the prices up as you go along, amends his exchange policy every five minutes, won't give refunds and speaks to you like have an IQ of 5.
Until the Adult Industry is moved away from the criminal fraternity it will be looked upon with ongoing disdain.....

I enjoy a heated debate almost as much as a mass debate (ho, ho, the old ones are the best. Or so uncle Ben tells the girls).
However I must take issue with Ivor Semions (are you related to Ivan Ardon?) definition of unnatural acts. Is anal sex not as unnatural as watersports? Neither of them have anything to do with reproduction afterall. So who is to say that pissing is for "sickos" but watching Rocco etc. buggering an 18 year old until she crys out in pain(and has to go home with cotton wool up her arse) is for non-sickos? Answer me that oh wise one.

i thought the most important thing robin duvall mentioned was that the job of classification/censorship is to remain with the bbfc.
it had been strongly rumoured that this responsibility was being handed over to ofcom - the new, catch-all, government media regulator.
at least, with the bbfc at the helm, we can be more certain the clock isn't about to be wound back re. liberalisation.
and re. licensed sex shops - in central london, where you've got real competition, the quality of service/environment in these places has improved dramatically since h/c became legit.
the only rip-off merchants still operating in soho are the unlicensed outlets. these "firms" are often just one aspect of a larger operation, which can involve all sorts of nastys.
the sooner they're toast the better, imo.

Great...... you're all for 'freedom', but if it's not to your taste, you're straight back behind the moral majority.
If some poor guys can only get a stiffy from watching poo-poo vids then they have my sympathy.........but what gives you the right to deprive them of their jollies?
If your local boutique's run by a cunt, don't use it. It's not as if there aren't alternatives.

Absolutely to all that.
The market will take care of the piss-takers eventually (Your turn's coming, DS!!).
Compared to 10 years ago, say, even the unregulated side has many fewer rip-off merchants now than then.

In the North of England licenced and unlicenced shops are like the preverbial rocking horse shite! Two in my county 90 miles apart both owned by aforementioned female orifice!
To return to censorship we have to retain a certain level of control to keep the paedophiles, violence junkies and sadists in check. Censorship can protect some of the victims of what are criminal offences, not sexual acts.

That's a lot more restricted than your first post........what concerned me was that you seemed to be using the tried-and-tested 'Trojan Horse' technique: criticise something no-one sane would advocate (e.g.kiddie porn) along with something less clear-cut (e.g. scatophilia) and attempt to apply the same logic to them- guilt by association, as it were.

The rip off in the porn job is now dead and buried. Mags are available to import and R18 videos are just as strong as the european versions.
The only reason why people still buy imported videos is because the copyright owners can certificate their videos fast enough.
Preston in Lancs now has a licensed shop which I can tell you offers a pleasant service and we at
www.jobbydealer.com will answer your needs for back issue 'scan' mags.
