Have to agree. It sounds, at best, like some industry love-in, exclusive to a few and with the least credible name that creates a sense of self-mockery. I'm guessing the awards themselves are some version of artistic genetalia.

Hey guys, just by its very imitatation of the BAFTAS (SHAFTAS- geddit?) Its just a bit of fun among those who work within TVX so while it maybe seen as a self congratulatory pat on the back it reflects who they feel are the best of the year they are dishing out awards to.

A glamourous night out equivalent to getting an appraisial in the office as it were.

By its very nature, SHAFTAS is no more or less irrelevant than the AVNs or any other high brow award ceremony within the adult industry. Its just an award and a bit of fun and an excuse to dress up sexy and have a ruddy good night out

What it does mean to those winning an award is recognition for their efforts among their peers and an endorsemtn to others that by winning they are good at what they do

Maybe you guys are taking it a bit more serious than what it is but the best thing about awards is the chance to socialliy interact with fellow peers in the biz and network, kick ass and take names.

The more parties and awards the better. Why dont the BGAFD have their own awards too. Killergram can do one just for their performers. They could have a lot of categories covered...

Didnt the Adult Channel used to have their own awards where Cathy Barry won every year? Its a good chance to shine a light on the business and worth its weight in gold for publicity

The awards are just a bit of harmless fun. Is it really so harmful or wrong for a perhaps exclusive community to recognise only those affiliated with it?

The notion of renaming the awards just because of their exclusivity is a prime example of political correctness gone mad and a lack of common sense, traits the 21st century can do without.

Not agreeing with you is not talking nonsense and I categorically deny having attempted to curry favour with OEJ - I am well aware of his tenure but I stand to gain nothing from kissing arse and I will remain just as much a nobody as you. Agreeing with somebody else's views hardly qualifies me as spineless - to submit to the opinions of an obstinate keyboard warrior is what qualifies as being spineless. I'm curious why you're on the defensive now. Do you really feel so threatened by those who aren't on the same wavelength as you? If you feel the urge to make a bold and strong statement on a divisive matter, you should expect to be challenged.

Political correctness has plenty to do with this, you seem to take offence in the fact that the Shaftas doesn't make it completely transparent that it refers to TVX affiliates only. By making the reference to TVX, you won't be so offended, will you? Isn't being PC about minimising offence to people?
