Er well er sorry Alec. If I want to swap videos I have purchased, right, can I do that here. I don't mean to sound like a tit, so please put me straight. What can I request / swap. Thanks Alec

This is now explained in section 2.6 of the FAQ, which is new, written and put up since our contretemps.

One question for clarification, please, Alec.

I understand your reasons for introducing the rules on trading, and don't have an issue with them as such.

I have swapped a lot of tapes via the forum in the past. I don't do copies, but send out the actual video from my collection on a like-for-like basis. No money changes hands. Because people like Your Choice don't send out their stuff in the 'original packaging' it's hard to tell whether what I have is a YC original or a very good copy.

What is your view on this? Is this acceptable. Like Chuckster, I'd rather get it right, rather than make a tit of myself.

TIA

I don't think the presence of a box and colour artwork is proof that the tape is an original, though it makes it more likely - cases can be bought and colour photocopiers exist. In addition many mail order suppliers of originals, including many in the States, just send them in a blank sleeve with no artwork. And by 'original' we mean the physical tape you actually bought - there's no way you can know whether or not it's an original except by the reputation of the supplier, and in some cases that may be unclear.
