Are there any worthwhile programs that are easily understood to eliminate duplicate pictures/mpegs/files etc

Jeepers! Dat Woody dude sure is quick! Hey Woody dude you fancy a job with us guys aboard SS Dupethepublic? There will be a mighty decent hamburger feast at my ranch if ya' all fancy coming over. I reckon they must be Russians....erm no that was my dads enemy...this lot are obviously from San Francisco.....Goddam hippie assholes.
