Symbolic downing of a statue of Saddam in the centre of Baghdad, but there are probably pockets of resistance elsewhere in the country. All over, but no doubt more soldiers and civilians yet to die.

Hopefully it'll be fully over soon.

12 years down the line we'll get the chance to do it all again with a new Shia government, or the Kurds, or maybe with Syria. If history teaches us one thing, it's that we never learn.

There may be areas within Baghdad that are still resisting, but with the fall of that statue (staged though it almost certainly was) so went the Saddam regime.

I hope Steve's alter ego, the information minister, survives. He deserves a vital role after the war---such as presenting You've been Framed!
