. . . . that Thomas Alva Edison, having invented the computer one morning and returning to his new contraption after a delicious luncheon of lemon sole, found someone had built something called the internet. A keen fan of the fine female form, he found a site entitled British Girls Adult Film Directory and decided to see if anyone had posted some photographs of Ms Lilly Langtry displaying her minge.

Imagine his consternation and annoyance when all he found were messages entitled Has Teresa May Ever Done HC? and A Question For Pink Floyd Fans.

The following day, he dismantled his invention after being swamped with three dozen spam emails, and receiving an offer from Bow Street Runner Dibble to examine some postcards of Queen Victoria in her scanties.

120 years on, the horror continues . . . .

That's set me straight, I thought Jules Verne invented the interweb....
Mind you if you like sci fi of that ilk Lawrence Manning's 'The Man Who Awoke' 1933 is a fantastic read...
