To Layla-Jade (or any other starlet)

I have a theory. Some women are born to be sirens. Strippers and porn actresses are sirens. Hookers are not. Anything in this, or am I just talking through my choad as usual?

Well I like to think of myself as a starlet, so thanks for the question. Which makes about as much sense as Claire Short claiming she still has principles after leaving two months too late. What is a siren, pray tell? And why is a hooker not a siren? And when does a hooker become a porn star? Where is your line where one becomes another?
I'd like to think we're all little sirens in our own way (as long as a siren is a good thing). It's not dependant on what you do, more on who you are. As long as you're working out who you are and are beign true to the person you are finding yourself to be, you're a siren in my book. Even you, little Llama Farma.
Night night.

Matt. Surely a university educated chap like you is familiar with Greek Mythology. Have you heard of a bloke called Homer (not Simpson you mug) who wrote Odyssey? I studied that when I was twelve. Many everyday words and phrases of today come from his works and they are a right good read IMHO.
The sirens were these sexy lasses who sat around on an island singing (and eating lotus flowers if I recall) in beautiful voices. Their lovely singing lured passing sailors towards them whereupon their ships were wrecked and the sirens killed the poor fuckers.
Glad to see my taxes were not wasted sending you to university.
Lots of love,
Magoo
(sorry Matt but I am only trying to be as smug as you can sometimes be)

Apologies for the slightly garbled message last night. The question (like the theory) was formulated whilst ripped to the tits on fine wine. I'll try again:
Mythology develops (partly) from early attempts to define human personality. My theory is that the personality trait identified in the sirens is that of the stripper and the pornstar.
The Sirens were river deities. They had names which emphasized the charm of their voices: Aglaophone (of the brilliant voice); Thelxepeia (of the words which enchant); Peisino? (the persuasive); Molpe (song).
I don't seek to draw a connection between porn starlets and the destructive impulses of the sirens. Just the fact that it is in their nature to allure/to be alluring.
With the siren/stripper/pornstar there is no contact. They are in control. Like the sirens they exist only to allure. Prostitution is in an entirely different category.

Saucer of milk, table six!
I'm largely ignorant of Greek Mythology, magoo, though I do have to say it's something I'd like to know more about.

To be honest Matt its one of the few things I remember as being enjoyable at school. I liked chemistry too. History could have been interesting if it wasnt for the shite teachers we had and the crappy syllabus But most of the stuff we did was very dull hence me spending most of the time being disruptive in class and getting the strap (called the tawse in Scotland I beleive) and generally brutalised by nasty teachers.
But Homers Odyssey had some great stories in it. I am sure when you get a chance to read it you will recognise a lot of the references.
I slept OK last night so no bitchy smugness from me this morning Im afraid.
I think it was Simon and Garfunkle who once sang the words "when I look back on all the crap I learned in high school its a wonder that I can think at all". A sentiment I whole heartedly agree with.
Teachers? Ive shit em.
